Teaching the new teacher about your kiddo with SPD is like teaching a blind person what the color red looks like.  It is impossible to help them understand what they are getting them selves in to.  Before school started I carefully explained to #2′s teacher what to expect.  I tried to describe a meltdown.  I tried to teach her about what makes #2 overwhelmed.  I tried to warn her.  Nope, she didn’t understand.  Not one little bit.  Day 1, we made it until almost 1 pm, before I got the phone call.  Day 2, 10 am.  Day 3, #2 begged to be home-schooled.  We have now thoroughly covered the subjects of handwriting, hallways, bathrooms, lunchrooms, band class, recess, bus rides, standing in line, pencil throwing, pencil breaking, pencil biting, transitions, yelling at teachers, punching students, slapping students, and the transition in from recess. …continue reading
