jalynnb27I am a mom of a son with SPD. When he was diagnosed at 8, we found out that he got it from me. All of a sudden all the pieces of everything just fell into place. My childhood, my son's behavior, everything. My ex-husband (husband at the time) was NOT understanding and literally ignored his diagnosis. He treated our son very poorly and made his fears that stemmed from his SPD even worse (both my son and I have GAD and panic disorder, as well). We got divorced and I got remarried, and my ex signed away his rights to my husband, who adopted both my kids :) Now we are trying to work on healing and dealing with our SPD symptoms, but sometimes it seems as though it gets harder as my son grows (now 15). I am glad to find this place who might understand what I am going thru.

bigtexlebrunBy day I’m a professional fundraiser, working at a private boarding high school outside Orlando, FL. By night I’m a video editor & producer, Internet radio host, blogger & social media enthusiast, and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Most importantly, I’m a husband and a father who has two boys, Chris (8) and Nate (6). It was only recently that Chris was diagnosed with SPD but I think we’ve known for a while that SPD seemed to fit him best. As my wife and I have tried to educate ourselves about how best to help Chris be successful we’ve also been able to introduce SPD to some of our friends who believe it describes their child. I’ve also found out several of my friends also have kids with SPD. This has made me a firm believer in the importance of advocacy and SPD education for everyone.

marieloebI am a few weeks from having a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Integrative Health/Mental Health Advanced Practice. I am the mom of two amazing kids, one who is on the Autism Spectrum. I love working with families while facing adversity, such as mental illness, recovering from trauma, developmental disabilities, poverty, etc. I work from a strengths based, holistic approach that builds on the family's cultural ties, traditions, and inter and intrapersonal communication to help them better meet each other's needs.

islandvictoriaFrantically busy mom to 2 kids. My son is neurotypcal and nearly 2. My daughter has ASD and SPD. We noticed the 2nd first. I'm a feminist but politically cynical Canadian who lives on the west coast with my wonderful and totally under appreciated husband. His mom is our life line. She lives 5 mins away and has saved my sanity at least once a week for the past 3 years. When I'm working, it's for co-op ed at the local university. I help those co-op students get ready to look for their work terms - AKA I'm a job coach.
