I am the mom of an outstanding 2 year old boy who was just diagnosed with SPD. This is a whole new world for me. Sensory diets, sensory play, sensory this and sensory that, what the heck is all this stuff anyway? So, I take it all in stride, have my occasional "woe is me" moment, and keep on trucking knowing that knowledge is power and my baby boy will benefit because of it.

I'm a wife and mom of 2 beautiful 4 yr old twin girls. One of them was diagnosed with Autism at age 3. It's been a heck of a ride, sometimes sad, frustrating, funny, interesting, confusing but always loving! The past year has been very interesting, potty trained, she's talking and communicating, but she began closing her ears with her hands A LOT. There are definitely a lot of sensory issues with V, still trying to understand it all.

My name is Megan. I live in northern California with my husband and 3 year old sensational kiddo. My son was diagnosed with SPD at 19 months then later received a PDD-NOS diagnosis at 25 months. I am a kindergarten teacher. As hard as it is at times to have a kiddo with certain challenges it keeps life exciting and he is constantly teaching me more about his little world which has helped me connect and help kiddos in my classroom with different sensory needs.

Mother of 2 Monkeys
I am a working Mother of an 11 yr old and a 6 yr old (who was diagnosed within the last month with SPD). My youngest monkey (Cam) is highly intelligent and has a great affinity for music. He has been an incredibly strong willed child since 18 months old. He is a sensory seeker. He will eat crayons, pencil erasers, sand, plastic and will lick ANYTHING including shopping carts and the seats of the booth in a restaurant. He suffers from a dairy allergy and is a very picky eater. He will not eat cracked food or mushy foods. SOUR is our favorite taste! Through the help of our OT, my son has finally received acceptance into his private school!

Ex-public school band director, now wife of a public school band director and stay at home mom of three, the oldest of whom has severe classic autism. Kids are 6, 3, and 2. I believe that all of our children are as God made them, but man, when the challenges mean things like autism, things can get tough. So thankful for the internet so we can share our challenges, and just not feel quite so isolated.

I am a SAHM to 3 wonderful kids. My middle son was recently diagnosed with SPD and I am so glad I found a site that has other parents that are going through similar challenges as me.

When my son was diagnosed with developmental issues at 2 1/2 I was attending UCLA School of Law. I left my aspirations of being a lawyer behind and put all of my energy into helping my son develop and cope with his sensory processing and speech issues. During that time I learned a lot about how to help kids with special needs. Later I took that knowledge and launched our website SensoryEdge. Our focus is on providing quality sensory products, classroom furniture, educational rugs, and educational toys to families, schools, therapy clinics, hospitals, and doctor's offices.

I am a happy work at home Mom. Ok, happy most of the time. I enjoy being a mother and a wife. I am honest, open and love to meet new people. I am active in our community, in our church and pretty much every where. I like people to know me and my family. I will be the one to introduce myself first. My daughter Ella, has SPD> and we are in the learning stages of her disorder. Haily is our youngest. Both girls are in public school, which was a huge step for me. We have been married for 9 years. I have my own business in Mary Kay which keeps me very grounded and not so on edge. We are a "believing" family where Jesus is always present and very much real!

Jax Mommy
I'm a stay at home mom of two boys, one of which has been diagnosed with SPD. For years my husband and I were frustrated when preschool, kindergarten teachers were telling us Jack couldn't stay seated with the rest of the group, Jack kept trying to 'escape' the cafeteria (sneaking out and hiding) and we had absolutely no explanation. It wasn't until we moved overseas and his teacher at an International school pulled us aside and gave her suspicion of 'low tone'. This was the first we'd ever heard of low tone or sensory processing disorder. Since then, we're going to an OT and learning new ways to access our sensational child and help him cope with the world around him. It's a long-time learning process, but at least we're getting answers and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!

I am the mom to four boys. My third son has SPD and "other issues" that remain undefined at this time, although they are almost positive he falls "somewhere" on the autism spectrum. My second son also has minor sensory issues, but nothing that affects his daily life, or ours. I blog at http://www.gettingtotheissue.blogspot.com about the ups, downs, and trials of being a mother to my children, especially to H.

Hi, I'm kathryn and i have a 3 year old son his name is Hartley. Hartley was in occupational therapy by the time he was 18 months old. His therapist told me about SPD and felt Hartley had this. Hartley is currently inspeech therapy and qualifies for all other therapies. We went to a Autism Clinic in February 2013 amd were told Hartley shows autistic behvior but not enough to be diagnosed with Autism. We have seen many improvements with therapy, limiting dairy intake, consuming more organic foods.
