Alicia Hart, is a wife, mother to three children and advocate for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder--including her own son with autism, Ewan. Alicia has worked for various autism related agencies, early intervention programs, and has consulted with schools, hospitals, and other programs regarding autism spectrum disorders, feeding aversions, and augmentative and alternative communication. The best title she has ever held, though, has simply been, "Mother." Alicia is currently a stay-at-home mom and continues to write, blog and record the Ewanism of the Day and has planned a series of books surrounding the autism life.

I am the mother of an 11 yr child with Dyspraxia along with many sensory issues. He is intelligent and beautiful but unfortunately has only just got a diagnosis. We have struggled through a minefield of professionals and jargon and things feel calm now for the first time ever really. Having a diagnosis has given me the confidence to join this group and share our stories as I no longer feel like a neurotic mother.

I am a wife and proud mother of 3 beautiful girls ages 6, 7, and 14. The younger two were adopted at birth and are bio half siblings. My youngest daughter Annalise is the one who has SPD. We started on this journey about 3 years ago with her when we just knew her issues were rising above what would be considered normal for age. I have spent countless hours since that time educating myself on this disorder so that I could be the very best advocate for her. I believe as parents we are the best interpreters of our SPD kiddos behaviors and feelings. In having frustration knowing how some family/friends viewed her and other children like her, I wrote this poem to help educate and raise awareness. The words represent what I think she would want people to understand about her and this disorder.

Hi everyone! New to the world of blogging as of March 2011. I am a full time student at PSU working towards my Masters in Special Education. I also work in a Sp.Ed. focus class part time as a T.A. I have 2 little munchkins. Danny and Naomi. Danny is 6 and has SPD, ADHD, an anxiety disorder, gastro-reflux, asthma, reactive airway disease and alphathalasemia. He's a great kid! And my youngest is Naomi who is the most mature 4 yr old I know. My kids have been the inspiration for starting my blog.

Hi! I am new to blogging. Thought I would post on here. My son is Danny, 7. He has SPD, ADHD, Irlen Syndrome, CAPD, Reactive Airway Disease and an Anxiety and Social Anxiety disorder. wheeeew! Despite that, he is an amazing, creative and intelligent kid! I also have a 4 yr old daughter, Naomi and am due with our 3rd, Lillie in January! I have a pretty full plate with the kids and am also a full time student at PSU working towards my Maasters in Special Education with certification in behaivoral therapy and Autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

My name is Jessica and I am from Eastern North Carolina. I am the mother of four boys and two of them have autism spectrum disorders and sensory deficits. I worked for a local university pediatric practice as a referral coordinator before leaving in June of 2010 to help care for my youngest son's needs and to coordinate his therapies. With more time on my hands and a mind full of ideas, I created the Autism Moms Facebook page to serve as an online support group and community for parents raising children on the spectrum. I also delved into the world of "mommy blogging" and decided to share our hectic and unusual adventures in the world of autism and sensory processing. "Life With Spongebob" is not only my online diary but it tells a story of what it is like to parent a child that sees, hears, feels, and perceives differently than other people. I hope that I can touch and connect with others while sharing our personal ups and downs.

I grew up with Sensory Processing Disorder without knowing what it was. Now my son has been diagnosed and we're learning together what SPD means for us and how best to cope and enjoy our everyday lives.

I've just turned 40, I'm married to a great guy. I'm a full time mom to my 6 yr old daughter who was recently diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and I have a 10 month old son. We are learning how to parent a child with very special needs. Does anyone do it well? I'm certainly hoping to figure it out. I am thankful for my Savior who gives me strength everyday and who blesses me even though I have never deserved it.

Everyone in my family is living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Needless to say, with four concrete, literal thinkers, who miss non-verbal cues, and have sensory integration issues, all living under the same roof we have lots of interesting moments around here. My hope is that this will be a place of honesty, and humor, as well as a source of information for anyone living with or curious about Autism Spectrum Disorders and their related conditions.

Blessed Mommy to 4 kids - all with their own flavor of special needs. D (9) has Asperger's, SPD, possible mood disorder (though this is likely being ruled out by his pdoc). He is currently in a RTC to receive the intensive therapy necessary to become successful in society and home. You can read that journey on my blog. Spike (4) has a speech articulation delay and PTSD from dealing with her brother's reactive/aggressive behaviors. Pouty (3) has seizure disorder, possible PTSD, and will rule the world with her determination. Samoo (16m) is the cuddliest, sweetest baby. He is nonverbal. He has expressive communication, but no verbal communication at all except grunts. His receptive communication is amazing. He is quite possibly the most comical, expressive kid I have, even without his words. Chad and I have been married 12 years and take one day at a time with our beautiful children.
