My name is Ilene and I'm a happily married stay-at-home-mom to 3 wonderful children. My eldest is a typically developing 7 year old. I also have a set of 6 year old girl/boy twins, both diagnosed with Classic Autism and ADHD. My son also has issues with Anxiety and my daughter was diagnosed with POTS about a year ago. Life is not what I imagined it would be at this stage, but it's still my life, and it's good. We have good days and we have bad days, just like everyone else. I started blogging (http://www.myfamilysexperiencewithautism.blogspot.com) to cope with things not progressing the ways that I wanted them to go. Sometimes I vent about problems. Sometimes I share in a glorious moment. Sometimes I try to educate others. It really depends on what I feel like saying when I sit down at the computer to "blog". But I do promise that everything I write is honest and heartfelt, even though I may contradict myself from time to time as I learn new things. I hope to share with others what we go through. And I hope you enjoy reading our stories.

I am a momma of 5 kiddos. #2 is an undiagnosed little guy with SPD. Finding out that there was an answer to why this one was such a creative, intense, dramatic, wonderful little kiddo was an exciting day. Unlocking the key to his brain made everything easier. I hope to share some of his marvel and scintillating awesomeness with you.

I am a mother of a beautiful, talented, smart, charismatic, funny, loving and extremely helpful little girl with sensory processing disorder. She is our little miracle. She is also very impatient. I delivered at 32 weeks, however she jsut needed to grow. She started at 2lbs 10oz. To look at her now you would never know. She is a straight A student and in 1st grade. We love her more than anything and we are doing everything we can to help her just get through each and every day.

I fiill many different roles in life...mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend. I am a School Psychologist, by profession and a Christian, by faith. But, I have come to realize that there is more to life than roles and titles. It is how you live your life that matters most! I believe that everybody has a story to tell. I began writing my own blog to tell my story. It's where I reflect on the circumstances of my life and issues related to having a child with sensory needs.

I am a mother of two children, a wife and daughter, a friend and Christian...among many other things. My 2 year old has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS with an autism diagnosis looming on the horizen and my 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with SPD this summer. I work at a community mental health center and have a background in sociology as well. I enjoy reading, writing, yoga, board games with friends, movies. This whole process has been challenging, but we come such a long way. My favorite new positive mantra is "focus on what your child CAN do rather than dwell on what they cannot do...yet."
